In business, as in life, there will always be a mountain to CLIMB. So, what do you do? Do you begin the CLIMB? Do you stare at it pondering whether to attempt the CLIMB? Or are you the person that allows fear to set in so deeply, you convince yourself this obstacle, this mountain just isn’t for you? If so, read on so I can show you how to change your perspective and change your outcome. Go on, CLIMB…
Sometimes, you won’t even see the mountain or realize it is present. You stumble and you trip trying desperately to find the right path. Then, one day, out of nowhere, you finally notice the mountain because you look up, then down, and realize you are at the very bottom. Through the many clouds, you can just barely see a hint of light peeking through. That hint of light is your vision, your destiny, but to reach it, you must stretch, reach, CLIMB.
With each step, your path grows clearer and the clouds begin to dissipate. Keep in mind that as you CLIMB, you may experience disappointment after disappointment; a ‘yes’ turns into a ‘no;’ doubt sets in; or a business partner bails on you. Yet, as you continue to CLIMB up the mountain, you will begin to reconnect with your vision, your purpose, your WHY.
New questions may surface, questions that you never considered before, such as: What is this teaching me? What do I not see? What is possible that was impossible before? What have I learned? How has my perspective changed? Did I achieve my ideal outcome? Now, you begin to relate to your vision in a completely different manner. Your vision is never lost; it just becomes clearer the closer you get to the top of the mountain.
Your perspective will determine if you reach your destination. You are far more than your thoughts, and you are much stronger than you could ever imagine or believe. As you CLIMB your mountain, chart and re-chart your course, integrating every ounce of your life experiences into your journey. Every now and again, renew your mind and re-energize and enjoy the view. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Apply this biblical principle to your life, and you cannot fail. You will soon realize you’ve traveled quite a distance up the mountain, but maybe not as far as you thought. Continue climbing anyway, placing one foot in front of the other, realizing every step brings you that much closer to a vision realized.
You, again, pause to revel in the view, glancing back at how far you’ve come and looking up towards the light. That light will always be familiar; it will always call you toward it, like a distant memory. Your quest is to connect with it. Eventually, where you are on the mountain won’t matter as much because you will want to keep climbing knowing your beginning may never have an end. You may never reach the peak of the mountaintop because your journey is one that is continuous; in the journey is where you continue to GROW UP. What are your goals for 2018 and what do perceive to be the top three obstacles you will face? Click here and let's schedule an appointment to outline a strategy to overcome these obstacles.
So… KEEP ON CLIMBING.
Your brother in growth, Dr. Rick G.
